IP Video Systems offers two ways to portably distribute and playback previously recorded streams from the DMS by either the “Playback DMS” version or the “IPVS Authoring Tool”.

When using the DMS 120 and DMS 1000 playback versions, recordings are transferred (“copied”) from a recording DMS into the playback DMS and then can be played back in exactly the same way as on the original DMS. The scalability is the same, i.e. up to respectively 50 and 100 streams can be played simultaneously on the Playback DMS 120 and Playback DMS 1000. The biggest advantage is that high-resolution streams can be streamed to V₂D Rx decoders as well as to IPVS Media Clients, and that synchronized playback of multiple streams within one session is supported. In this way the end user gets again exactly the same experience as when the original recording was performed.

The IPVS Authoring Tool allows creating DVD’s with IPVS full native HD format which are playable on a PC desktop or notebook. The Authoring Tool creates a file structure containing html based overview pages, a PC Media Viewer and recorded digital media content with all required metadata. This can then be burned onto a DVD with standard DVD burning tools. It is possible to burn one or more recorded programs each containing one or more streams on one DVD (limited by the DVD capacity). When the DVD is placed in any PC, the user can bring up the html page from which he can request to play a stream. When the stream is selected, the appropriate media viewer is launched and will display the recorded stream.
